Public Information and Cooperation with the Professional Community
|

The SAMSO 'Public Information/Cooperation With the Professional Community' committee has the combined functions of making
the message of what A.A. does and, perhaps more importantly, what it does not do...available to portions of the public
who express an interest in our fellowship and to various professionals (practicing and student) who may deal with active
alcoholics in the course of their work. We strive to establish better communication between A.A.'s and professionals and to find
effective ways of cooperating with them without forming any official or implied affiliation with them.
Typically, our involvement includes such things as participating in Health Fairs organized for businesses, schools, churches,
etc., giving informational talks about A.A. at schools and other groups, placing literature and our basic text, Alcoholics
Anonymous, in school and public libraries, and working with the various professions (medical, legal, the clergy, counselors, the
media) to create the desired better mutual understanding and, hence, more effective cooperation.
We find committee work interesting, rewarding, and fun. If you would like to contact the committee directly to request our
participation in an event, or if you are a member of A.A.wishing to volunteer for the committee, contact us and attend our
committee meeting.
